Over 2,500 working adults and students have attended PrepSuccess™ entrance exam prep courses and tutoring sessions. Participants to our courses have significantly increased their official scores by attending all classes and completing all assignments. We teach each course in traditional classrooms located in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill region of North Carolina and simultaneously broadcast the instruction over the Internet using WebEx so that students located beyond commuting distance can see, hear, and participate in every classroom activity. We also digitally record each course so that students can access each class over the Internet and experience everything that occurred in class. For more information on our web cast options, please visit Web Based Learning.
We invite you to visit one of our traditional classrooms in person so that you can talk with the faculty and current students, see the classroom, and experience the PrepSuccess™ learning process. You will be allowed to join the class at the break, which is generally 7:30 pm for evening classes and 10:30 am for Saturday classes, and stay 90 minutes until the end of that session. We request that you not ask technical questions regarding the exam or test problems, but you are welcome to speak with students and the instructor regarding the course. To schedule a visit, view the dates and times of classes in the table located at the bottom of this page and call 919-791-0810 to coordinate. We will provide you with an email receipt to give to the instructor that authorizes you to join the class as noted above. Travel Guidance is provided to each course in the table, so ensure you print a copy of the directions prior to leaving for the class. This FREE Classroom Visit is not available for Live Online Internet access, but we offer a FREE Online Practice Class on Wednesday night just prior to the start of each course.
Educational Testing Services (ETS) is changing the format, content, and scoring of the GRE General Test effective August 1, 2011. The GRE Revised General Test will be offered thereafter, so visit www.gre.org to learn more about these changes. PrepSuccess will continue to prepare students for the current GRE General Test until May 2011 when we will switch over to teaching content to help you beat the new GRE Revised General Test.
The 42-hour GRE PREP course consists of Math Prep, Verbal Prep, and Quantitative Prep content taught over a period of seven weeks. Students complete six computer based tests outside normal class hours thus the time in class is focused 100% on instruction. You may attend 3-hour classes on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6 – 9 pm, or 6-hour classes on Saturdays from 9 am - 4 pm. (We occasionally offer courses that meet one night per week for 10 to 14 weeks or "overview " courses that meet for several weekends, so see the schedule at the bottom of this page). To meet the demands of your busy schedule, you can blend a total of 42-hours of instruction by attending classes in the evenings or on Saturdays (space available; limited to course that begins within the same week).
Math Prep: We spend 14 hours reviewing arithmetic, algebra, word problems, geometry, graphs, and data analysis. You should be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide without the use of a calculator which is not allowed in the official exam. Ensure you know your math tables COLD without the use of fingers and toes.
Verbal Prep: We spend 14 hours reviewing all components of the GRE Verbal section: sentence completion, antonyms, analogies, reading comprehension, and analytical writing. We also provide exercises to build your vocabulary, a most important asset for the GRE. Mastering this content is essential for scoring at the 50th percentile or higher.
Quantitative Prep: We spend 14 hours applying the content of the Math Prep course to the many, unusual questions you will see in the GRE Quantitative section of the exam. We focus on techniques that will help you answer quantitative comparisons and discrete quantitative questions, and build on your knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data and graph analysis, probability, and analysis of word problems.
Strategy: We integrate tips and tricks into the solution of each question so that YOU decide the approach that works best for you. We teach direct approaches which help you select the correct answer; we also teach indirect approaches which help you substitute or "back-solve" using answers that are supplied so that you can pick the best answer that fits the question.
The registration fee does not include the cost of the textbooks (about $40) which students purchase before the first day of class.
Math Prep: The textbook for this content is the GRE Math Workbook (7th Edition) ISBN 978-1419552212 published by Kaplan. Obtain a discount and free shipping from Barnes and Noble.
Verbal and Quantitative Prep: The textbook for this content is the GRE General Test: The Very Best Coaching & Study Course ISBN 978-0738608105 published by Research & Education Association. Obtain a discount and free shipping from Barnes and Noble.
: We are so confident in the success of our courses that we guarantee you will achieve higher test scores. Participants who fulfill course requirements by attending all classes and completing all assignments for a course will get better scores. If not, you are welcome to attend the next course at NO ADDITIONAL COST.
In order to be successful in this course, students need to arrive at class on time, attend all classes, and study outside of class. To guide you in the learning process, assignments are identified for each class. Ensure you complete your homework prior to class. A textbook that is full of problems you have solved and post-it notes on which you have written "tricks and tips" indicates a motivated learner.
PrepSuccess™ Dares You to Compare Course Prices. We accept payment by VISA, MasterCard, Cash, or by certified bank check. Sorry, but we do not accept American Express. On-line payments are protected by VeriSign data encryption security and offered via Authorize.Net and BB&T Merchant Services. The registration fee does not include the cost of textbooks which students purchase before the first day of class (about $40 total), nor access to Live Online Webcasts or Streaming Video Recordings ($100 or $150).
You may obtain a $25.00 discount if you apply to any of the graduate programs on our Partners page, or are employed by BCBSNC or SAS. To obtain the discount code, call 919-791-0810 prior to your registration. (Only one discount per student). For students vying for degrees from other colleges, PrepSuccess offers $25.00 discounts at different times during the year. Keep an eye on discounts that may appear in the schedule of courses located at the bottom of this page.
If you cannot attend a course for which you are registered, you may request a refund, transfer your registration to a future workshop (space available), or provide a substitute in your place. A $50 fee will be charged to process any change made 15 or more days prior to the start of a course; thereafter, refunds are not available. Visit $50 Fee to make a payment. If an emergency requires you to transfer fewer than 15 days before the course begins or during the course, a $100 processing fee will apply. Visit $100 Fee to make a payment. After payment is made, call us at 919-791-0810 to give a detailed explanation of your request. PrepSuccess™ reserves the right to cancel any event not meeting the established minimum enrollment five (5) days prior to the event.
:
Fees will increase in September 2010: As you have probably learned, PrepSuccess offers the lowest priced courses of any prep company in the country. Most companies charge $30 to $50 per hour for prep courses whereas PrepSuccess offers courses starting at $12 per hour. We evaluate our expenses and fees each year and adjust fees every two to three years. Effective September 2010, our GRE PREP course will increase $1 per classroom hour, thus the Early Bird fee will be $546 for the 42-hour course.
Classroom Attendance: The Early Bird fee for the 42-hour course is $504 ($12 / hour) if paid 30 days prior to the first class, a savings of more than $500 over the cost of other prep companies. Fees are $546 ($13 / hour) thereafter until 15 days prior to the first class at which time the fee increases to $588 ($14 / hour).
Live Online and Recordings: If you are not able to commute to our physical classrooms in the RTP region of North Carolina, or if you believe you may travel or have scheduling conflicts during a course, select the Live Online & Recordings option during registration and pay an additional $100. After you click the ENROLL icon, change the option "How do you wish to attend?" from "Classroom (No Additional Fee)" to "Live Online and Recordings (+$100)". This option provides you with access to the Virtual Classroom (live over the internet as the class is taught) as well as all digital recordings of the course you purchased. Each class is broken into two recordings which may be accessed by noon on the day following a class. Access to recordings is provided for up to 14 days upon completion of a course. If you do not purchase this option during your initial registration, you may do so afterwards for $150 by selecting $150 Fee.
